Sure way to make money.

As I was leaving work yesterday, a man was sitting at the lights with a sign that said need money for food. Now before you feel to sorry for him.  I did the first time,  Let me explain. He looked well feed, well dressed, and even had his dogs, yes dogs with him. The first few times I saw him he was by himself  and did not look so well feed and dressed, his posse was not with him. I was amazed, he went from poorly dressed to looking good. His (big) dogs looked well taken care of.  He even had a lawn chair set up by where he tied his dogs to the lamp post.  As the light turned red he would approach the cars holding up his sign. Many people felt sorry for or didn't want any trouble and handed him loose change from their coffee fund.
Now don't get me wrong, I know there is a lot of people out there without jobs, when he finished his tour up and down the lane of cars he went back to his chair and dogs, That's when it got interesting, a couple in the car ahead of me noticed this and were pointing to him and his dogs, they were very unhappy indeed an proceeded to curse him out(big time). How dare you ask for money for food, how do your dogs eat if you have no food. So on and so on with very foul language until the light changed.  They had no choice but to move forward still cursing and yelling till they were out of sight.
Now I am sure at first this guy needed money(at least I hope he did) but when he found out how much money he could rake in that's when I think he made it become his full time job.
There are a lot of people who could use our help and are sincere in their need for it. It just kinda puts a damper on it when you feel like you just got hosed.

Years ago my grandparent's friend was baffled by this type of situation as well and decided to put it to test. He dressed the part and sat on a corner for a weekend to see how much money these people are actually making. He made $600 in one weekend. That's crazy! That story has made it difficult for me to pity those who are standing on corners or freeway on-ramps asking for money. That happened about 15/20 years ago. I can't even image what they make now.

Paul and I saw many of these kinds of people in the U.S. while we were on deputation. One couple got out of their car..yes, I said car! and they took their milk crates from their trunk and proceeded to their corners leading out from a gas station that goes in and out from a major highway. It was a perfect spot to collect so many people who are not from the area. We stopped and said, "Nice car you have there, if you have a car then you are paying for insurance(at least legally they are supposed to)can't you take your car and look for a job instead of sitting here and coning people out of their hard earned money?" They had nothing to say because they knew we were speaking the truth...as far as I am concerned these people should be visited by the IRS and Canadian Tax Revenue! It might stop some of them from their deceitful ways!
